Battered fish fry recipe | Kolkata style fish batter fry recipe

        Kolkata fish batter fry is the best appetizer for Bengali people. I personally give 1st preference to the Kolkata fish batter fry into Bengali appetizer. This is so delicious and mouth-watering. This appetizer must have In the food buffet of the Bengali marriage occasion. It has a unique taste with some Indian spices with Bhetki fish. Today I will share this recipe which you may like.

Servings :  5 person


Ingredients:

(fish marination)


Bhetki fish fillet - 700gm

Salt - to taste

Black pepper powder - 1tbsp

Lemon juice - 4tbsp

Onion - 1small piece

Fresh coriander leaves - 3tbsp

Fresh Mint leaves - 2tbsp

Ginger paste - 2tbsp

Garlic paste - 2tbsp

Sugar - 1tsp

Oil - 4tbsp(Marination)

Green chilli paste - 1tbsp

(For batter)


All-purpose flour -  1.1/2 cup

Cornflour - 5tbsp

Baking powder - 1tsp

Salt - 1tsp

Egg - 2piece

Black pepper powder - 1tsp

Ice cubes - 10  small pieces or chilled water

Oil  500ml - for fry



Cooking Method:

  • First, wash fish fillet and cut them into 4 cm square pieces.





  • Now make a paste of green chilli, coriander leaves, mint leaves, garlic, ginger, onion, 4tbsp of oil, And keep aside after ready the green paste.



  • Now add salt lemon juice and black pepper to the fish and marinate well.



  • Now add the green paste and mix the green paste with fish fillets. Keep this marination for at least 3 hours in the fridge.




  • Now take a bowl and make the batter by mixing all-purpose flour, cornflour, black pepper powder, salt, baking powder. After mixing these dry ingredients together, then put egg and ice cubes into the dry mix.





  • Now whisk well until ice cubes completely meltdown.



  • Heat oil in Kadai for frying the battered fish.



  • Now coat marinated fish fillets into the batter and put into the hot oil.



  •  Fry them in medium flame till golden brown.





  • Move from hot oil after frying and set them over tissue paper for absorbing the extra oil from fried fish.



  • Serve hot with Kasundi & ketchup with cucumber and onion salad.
